An Idiot’s Guide to Twitter Plus The Twitter Song

If you know me, than you know I’m a huge fan of Twitter. Twitter, although hard to explain to your average web 2.0-illiterate person, is really quite simple. I thought, ok, if I had to explain Twitter to my Mom and she could understand it, than anyone could. I have yet to successfully explain gmail to my Mom so you can see what I’m working with here.

To define Twitter in the most simplistic way is easy: twitter is 140-characters-or-less-microblogging.  For each “blog” posted, you have 140 characters (not words) to get your message across.  Across to who?  Well, whoever thinks your interesting enough to follow.  Twitter is also social messaging.  Twitter is also news reporting.  It is anything you want it to be, without having to type a lot and these days, who has time to do that?

So who follows you and who do you follow?  That is a good question and one that I will answer shortly. First, I ask you to stop reading and go join Twitter.  Once you’ve joined, come back here and read this super awesome tutorial that explains everything you may (or may not) have wanted to know about Twitter. But first, follow me. There’s my shameless self-indulgent plug.  Now that I’ve gotten that out of the way, you may read on.

What a Whirlwind of a Week (Plus Photo of the Day)

I have been a busy girl these last few days which is why I haven’t updated on here since Monday.  If you must know, I went to the American Idol Finale at the Nokia Theater yesterday (May 20th) with a friend on Seat Filler tickets. You want to know more?  Sure, I’ll tell you all about it.  If you are unaware what a seat filler is, don’t feel ashamed, I did not either until I was graciously informed by a friend. I will now be that friend to you.  A seat filler is simply this: a person who fills the seat of anyone sitting in the first 50 (or so) rows of a filmed production (like American Idol) until the ticket holder arrives.  Seat Fillers also occupy empty seats during the entire show to anyone up front that needs to pee or do a line of coke in the bathroom.  Producers don’t want empty seats on film.  I would soon learn, for a Seat Filler, a trip to the theater becomes an evening of whimsical musical chairs with Hollywood celebrities, past Idols and glitterati galore.

Photograph of the Day: Caesarfabulous

Caesar

Meet Little Caesar. Caesar likes to run, jump, bark and eat milk bones like it’s his job. He is a very energetic little puppy who, after a solid four times around the block pulling me on my rollarblades, enjoys passing out on the couch with his tongue hanging low like a continental soldier. He has a good life.

The effects for this photograph were added using a wonderful web service that adds  cool camera effect to your picture on the fly. It’s called TiltShiftGenerator, and in order to use it, you must Adobe AIR installed on your computer.  You can find the Adobe AIR download on the TiltShiftGenerator website.

Adam Lambert on the Road to Stardom

adamlambert1The first time I met Adam Lambert, I knew he was destined for stardom. I had the pleasure of watching Adam perform months before thoughts of American Idol were floating through everyone’s head. Adam was part of an amazing LA-based cabaret group produced and hosted by Chris Isaacson and Shane Scheel called Upright Cabaret. Upright Cabaret has featured cast members from over 75 Broadway shows as well as stars from Ugly Betty, Grey’s Anatomy, Cold Case, How I Met Your Mother, Dancing with the Stars, American Idol, House, Nip/Tuck and countless other film and television productions.
